I set up my laptop and camera on a table out in the open, but had to move under the palapa when a few last raindrops fell from the sky.
Since the beach was completely empty, I let Frances have free reign for awhile, as long as she stayed in my line of sight.
I did 3-1/2 hours or writing - yay- and got some desperately needed privacy. The house where I am is beautiful and has a gorgeous view, but occasionally I need some extra privacy. The design of the house is completely open. Every conversation from every room can be heard from every other room. So sometimes I find that I enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors and being creative when at the beach. Don't get me wrong. It's a great house, and a joy to be in, but I require a certain amount of alone time and quiet to stay sane. That's just how I am.
Frances alternately strolled about and rested. I felt quite satisfied with my productivity. I had lunch - fish ceviche... hmmm... would not recommend it. My opinion is that the food at Soggy Peso is mediocre, but since I'd been sitting at their table all morning I thought I should order something. Ceviche is a citrus marinated seafood... it can be any kind of fish or shellfish. The dish originated in Peru and Ecuador and has been adopted by many Latin American countries. I'm not sure what kind of fish was in mine, but it was chewy, even a bit rubbery. Driving home my stomach started gurgling. So I put my grapefruit seed extract into a tall glass of water and lay down for about and hour and I was fine. Grapefruit seed extract is known to purify toxins. You can put a few drops in water when it is of questionable quality and usually be OK. It's good for the stomach too if you think you may have injested something that your system is not happy about.
Late in the evening I wrote for another two hours, so I'm a happy little clam. I hope to get in a few hours today as well.
In the evening I took a walk with Frances at the estuary, this time taking a different path that runs along the actual estuary instead of the beach. Many cactus are in bloom in the area right now including prickly pears and cardons.
I got a different view of some of the mangrove plants which are so vital to the health of the estuary.
It's nice to find different paths sometimes.
And of course, another sunset.
And it's official, I am stopping my scuba course. I have decided I currently don't have the stamina. And I have a minor earache that just won't go away. Time here runs short and there are other things I'd rather do. I may pick it up again at a future date. It's certainly interesting and I do enjoy the water. Health situations will need to change first.
And now off to the outdoors with Frances, laptop and camera. We've learned where the dolphins tend to make an appearance in the late morning. Maybe with any luck we'll see them today.
Sorry to hear scuba is not going to work out for you this time but sounds like you are getting a lot of writing done and that's fantastic. Hope you enjoy your remaining days in Mexico. Your time there seems to have flown by very quickly.
ReplyDeleteYes it has gone by fast. As usual I had unrealistic expectations of the quantity of things I would accomplish while here, but I have had a rich experience for sure!
ReplyDeleteBetter to have a lot on your "to do" list and get to what you can rather than be sitting around trying to think of things to do. I can tell by your posts here that you have stayed quite busy the entire time. It doesn't matter that you don't accomplish everything on your list. It matters that you had a fun time and enjoyed yourself.
